FIRE BOARD MEETING
May 6, 1981
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Fire Advisory Board of the City and
Township of st. Joseph met in regular session on Wednesday, May 6, 1981 at 8:00
p.m. in the office of City Clerk.
Members Present: st. Joseph Town Representative, Joe Bechtold; (City Council
Representative, Herman schneider - absent); Fire Chief, Mike Loso;
City Clerk, Bob Johnson.
Minutes Presented: A motion was made by Bechtold seconded by Loso to approve
the minutes of the February 4, 1981 meeting as presented.
Ayes: Bechtold, Loso.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
Quarterly Report: City Clerk Bob Johnson presented copies of the 1st quarter
financial report to members. (3 additional copies to Township.)
A motion was made by Bechtold seconded by Loso to approve quarterly report
. as presented.
Ayes: Bechtold, Loso
Nayes: None Motion carried.
Chevrolet Fire Truck: Chief Loso requested Department retain 1951 Chevrolet fire
rig until grass fire season has passed.
1976 Grass Rig: Chief Loso reported the newest department unit, a 1976 Ford
Chassis, with grass fighting capability equipment, has been utilized in
10 grass fires to date.
DNR strike Agreement: DNR forest fire strike Force Agreement, approved by the
City Council and Town Board earlier, was reported ready for DNR signature.
Fire units designated for strike force standby are: Tank truck #4 and
Grass rig #6. (copy on file)
Pagers: Chief Loso reported the department has received 4 additional pagers.
Drop Tank: Drop tank reported received on 5/5/81 from Mid Central. Department
now has 3 drop tanks.
Foam-Detergent Purchase: A motion was made by Bechtold seconded by Loso to approve
purchase of 10 gallons of foam and 5 gallons of detergent. Estimated cost
$186.00. ($62.00 per 5 gallon container.)

Nayes: None Motion carried.

Other Business: Discussion of physical exams for fire department personnel
and second injury law were held. Bechtold to review physical exam
question with Town Board members. (Copy of second injury law to Bechtold.)
