FIRE BOARD MEETING
February 2, 1983
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Fire Advisory Board of the City and
Township of st. Joseph met in session on Wednesday, February 3, 1983 at 8:00 p.m.
in the City Clerk's office.
Members Present: Town representative, Joe Bechtold; City representative, Herman
Schneider; Fire Chief, Dick Taufen; City Clerk, Bob Johnson.
Minutes Presented: A motion was made by Bechtold seconded by Schneider to approve
the minutes of November 15, 1982 as presented.
Ayes: Bechtold, schneider, Taufen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
Quarterly Report: The October 1 to January 1, (1983) quarterly financial report
was approved on motion by Bechtold seconded by Schneider as presented by
City Clerk.
Ayes: Bechtold, schneider, Taufen.

Fire Truck Tire Proposal: Fire Chief Dick Taufen presented the following tire
proposal: trade four tires from maintenance department trucks for radio to
be installed in sludge truck. Original cost of radio - $350.00. The
proposal was approved on motion by Schneider seconded by Bechtold.
Ayes: Bechtold, schneider, Taufen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
st. Ben's Power plant - Fire Call Service: A motion was made by Bechtold seconded
by Schneider to approve an increase of $1.00 to $2.00 per call for st. Ben's
fire call service.
Ayes: Bechtold, schneider, Taufen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
Fire Personnel Salary Proposal: Fire Chief Taufen proposed smaller salary increases
each year rather than a large increase within three years. Taufen suggested
taking average township employee wage and average city employee wage, add both,
divide by two to get proposed fireman's wage. Adjust wages each year with
same percent that regular city employees receive.
Fire Sectional School: On motion by Schneider seconded by Bechtold the Board approved
the attendance of 2 firemen at a sectional fire school at Alexandria, Mn. and
attendance of 2 firemen at the State Fire Conference at International Falls, Mn.
on June 16-17-18-19, 1983.
- Ayes: Bechtold, Schneider, Taufen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.

1982 Operations Resume and 1983 Proposed Budget: The Board accepted and approved the
1982 Joint Fire Operating fund resume and 1983 proposed budget as presented,
after review and several minor changes, on motion by Bechtold seconded by Schneider.
