FIRE BOARD MEETING
November 14, 1984
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Fire Advisory Board of the
City and Township of st. Joseph met in session on Wednesday, November
14, 1984 at 8:00 p.m. in the City Clerk's office.
Members Present: Town representative, Joe Bechtold; City representative,
Herman schneider; Fire Chief, Dick Taufen; City Clerk, Bob Johnson.
Minutes Presented: Minutes of the May 2, 1984 meeting were presented and
approved on motion by Bechtold seconded by schneider.
Ayes: Bechtold, Schneider, Taufen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
Quarterly Report: A motion was made by schneider seconded by Bechtold to
approve the April 1 to July 1, 1984 quarterly financial report as
presented. (July 1 to October 1, 1984 quarterly report to be mailed
prior to December 1, 1984. )
Ayes: Bechtold, Schneider, Taufen.
Nayes: None Motion· carried.
Fire Contract Matters: A motion was made by Bechtold seconded by Schneider
to approve st. Wendel fire contract with the following corrections:
Page 1 - change firemen to "firefighter".
Page 2 - Article III - add paragragh (fire signs).
Page 5 - Article VII - see (c. ) and change firemen to "firefighter"
and man to operate.
Page 6 - Article VIII - firemen's to "firefighter 's'.'
Article VIX - (same)

Page 7 - men to firefighters (2 )
Page 8 - Article XII - end of 1st paragraph add: No compensation
shall be refunded, etc.
Page 9 - First sentence: change have to has.
Ayes: Bechtold, Schneider, Taufen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
Fire Doors: Fire Chief Taufen reported new fire station doors operating well.
Payment has been approved and completed.
Generator Purchase: A motion was made by Schneider seconded by Bechtold to
approve purchase of a 5 h.p. generator for the department. (Cost - $664.00)
Ayes: Bechtold, Schneider, Taufen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.

1985 Capital Outlay: The board reviewed 1985 capital outlay requests as
presented. OSHA mandated safety equipment to receive priority rating.
Truck Maintenance Contract: Board agreed truck maintenance contract should
be continued.

Farewell To Board Member: Members bid farewell and expressed appreciation
to member Herman Schneider who will be retiring as City Council and
Fire Board member in January, 1985. Schneider served on the Board
since its inception in 1976 and on the City Council for 30 years.
Adjournment: Motion to adjourn made at 9:05 p.m.
