Fire Board Meeting
May 7, 1986
The Fire Advisory Board of the City and Township of st. Joseph met in regular
session on Wednesday, May 7, 1986 at 8:00 p.m. in City Hall Annex.
Members Present: Town representative, Joe Bechtold; City representative, Leo
Sadlo; Fire Chief, Dick Taufen; City Clerk/Administrator, Rachel stapleton.
Minutes: Minutes of the February 5, 1986 meeting were approved on a motion by
Sadlo; seconded by Bechtold.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
Quarterly Financial Report: The financial report for the period January 1, 1986
to April 1, 1986 was presented and approved with a motion by Bechtold;
seconded by Sadlo.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
- Contract - st. Joseph Township-City: The Board discussed the st. Joseph Township-
City contract. will have attorneys get together and work out a proposal to
be accepted by City Council prior to July 1, 1986.
Fire Chief Reports: 1) A title XVI matching funds, DNR grant applied for was
accepted. Grant amount is $500.00 to be matched with local funds. May be
used for training, equipment and such.
2) 911 status - scheduling appears 911 won't be operational until late 1987.
3) Department responded to 36 calls to date. Five of those were to st. Wendel
area. About 50% are medical calls.
4) Fire Department received a new tool for fire service. A porta-power
jaws (expander) was given as a local anonamous donation.
Joe Bechtold stated the township street signs are all up.
August meeting cancelled unless necessary.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 p.m. with a motion by Sadlo; seconded
by Bechtold.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
