FIRE BOARD MEETING
February 4, 1987
The Fire Advisory Board of the City and Township of St.
Joseph met in regular session on Wednesday, February 4, 1987
in City Hall Annex at 8:00 p.m.

Representative, Leo Sadlo; Fire Chief, Dick Taufen; City
Clerk/Adm. Rachel Stapleton.
~!~~!~ê~ Minutes of the December 10, 1986 meeting were
approved as presented with a motion by Sadlo; seconded by
Bechtold.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.
º~ªr!~rlY E!~ª~£!ªl B~E2r!~ Bechtold made a motion to approve
the quarterly financial report with the condition that the
expenditure for Fire Marshall Mike Loso be excluded if
further scrutiny shows his jurisdiction covers only the City;
seconded by Sadlo.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.
ºªE!!ªl º~!lªY 12ª2~ The Board generally approved the Capital
Outlay Request Proposals with top priorities first. Chief
discussed the need to get the roof and drying tower of the
fire hall repaired, he will get quotes and report to
Bechtold; also Chief discussed the need for air packs,
Bechtold made a motion to purchase two air tanks; seconded by
Sadlo.
ºb!~f B~E2r!ê~ Chief Taufen reported the yearly maintenance
was done on the fire trucks and on truck #1 the water fill
gauge was found to need replacement. Sadlo made a motion to
purchase a replacement water fill gauge and connectors for
truck #1; seconded by Bechtold.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.
B~ê!gDª!!2D~ Chief reported that Jeff Flynn resigned from the
Fire Department.
ê!~!~ E!r~ g2~Y~~!!2~~ Bechtold moved to approve the expenses
of two persons from the Fire Department to attend the State
Fire Convention in Duluth on June 17-20; seconded by Sadlo,
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.

County sponsored courses through SCSU. 9 firefighters will
take the Crash Injury Management course and 10 firefighters
will take the refresher course.
Fee collection: Board discussed means available to recover
--- ----------- costs of fire department calls from individuals residing
outside the area for car fires and medical emergencies.
No action necessary,
