FIRE BOARD MEETING
February 3, 1988
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Fire Advisory
Board of the City and Township of St. Joseph met in regular
session of Wednesday, February 3, 1988 at 8:00 p.m. in City
Hall Annex.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Town Representative Joe Bechtold, City
Representative Leo Sadlo, Fire Chief Richard Taufen, City
Clerk/Adm. Rachel Stapleton.
MINUTES: Minutes of the November 4, 1987 meeting were
approved as presented with a motion by Bechtold; seconded by
Sadlo.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.

QUARTERLY FINANCIAL REPORT: Sadlo made a motion to approve

the quarterly financial report; seconded by Bechtold.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.
FIRE CHIEF REPORTS: 1 ) 911 System: Stearns County expects
to have the equipment installed to contact the Fire
Departments by the end of April or early May. We will have
to get compatible pagers for this equipment.
2) The Fire apparatus has been serviced recently.
3) Pagers, which are requested on capital outlay for 1988,
will be needed soon. Also Fire Truck drivers may need a
Class B license soon.
FIRE FIGHTERS CONVENTION AND RADIO EQUIPMENT: Fire Fighters
Convention will be held June 8 -11 at Moorhead. Bechtold
made a motion to approve sending two Firefighters to the
convention and to purchase the radio equipment needed to be
compatible with Stearns County 911 system; Sadlo seconded the
motion.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.
FIRE SIREN: Board discussed using the fire siren when 911 is
- fully implemented. Board in agreement to still use siren if
possible.

FIRE PHONE: Board felt fire phone should be retained as a
fire phone number until people become familiar with 911.

ADJOURN: Sadlo made a motion to adjourn at 9:04 p.m,;
seconded by Bechtold.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.
