HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-23-90 ~ ~ Page 90-3 .0- - May 23, 1990 Pursuant to due ca I I and notice thereof, the Fire Advisory Board of the City and Township of St. Joseph met on Wednesday, May 23, 1990 at 8:00 p.m. in City Ha 11 Annex. MEMBERS PRESENT: Town Representative Joe Bechtold, City Representative Leo Sadlo, Fire Chief Richard Taufen, City Clerk/Administrator Rachel Stapleton. MINUTES: Sadlo made a motion to approve the minutes of the February 7, 1990 meeting, with correction; seconded by Bechtold. Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen. Nayes: None. Motion carried. QUARTERLY FINANCIAL REPORT: Bechtold made a motion to approve the quarterly financial report as presented; seconded by Sadlo. Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen. Nayes: None. Motion carried. ST. BENEDICTS: Mike Ryan of the College of st. Benedict . responded to the Board's request for a meeting with representatives of St. Benedicts. A meeting wi 1 I be set up in the near future when Sister Kathleen is avai lable. CHIEF REPORTS: 1) We received the requested capital outlay items, clock, pump, etc. 2) The servicing of the truck apparatus wi I 1 be done soon. 3) State certification wi 1 1 be at $10 per firefighter, effective September 1, 1990. Physicals wi 1 1 be required, once every year for interior firefighters, every three years for the rest. 4) Risk control seminar recommended wearing cotton shirts, instead of the heavy coats, in fighting summer grass fires, to reduced heat exhaustion claims. Boots, helmet and shield would still be used. 5) The requirements of hazardous material spills need to be avai lable, to the firefighters. 6) When the 911 system was installed, the mutual aid channel was not included in the system. Local departments are requesting the County to reinstall the mutual aid channe I. In the event of a storm, the County wi 1 I not page local units. 7) The computer is operating fairly we I I , currently the Fire Department is working on compiling addresses and may run a mailing to obtain specific location of pertinent materials at property locations. EQUIPMENT: The Lioness of St. Joseph have indicated that they - would like to donate equipment for the Fire Department. Chief indicated that they need more air tanks, a portable pump, and ~ a self reading blood pressure stethoscope. Bechtold made a motion to approve the ai r tanks, and pump and two stethoscopes, as requested, and a I low the Lioness, to pay for specific items, and the items which qua I ify for a matching ... ...
