Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Fire Advisory
Board of the City and Township of st. Joseph met on Wednesday,
May 6, 1992 at 8:00 p.m. in city Hall Annex.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Town Representative Joe Bechtold, City
Representative Leo Sadlo, Fire Chief Richard Taufen, City
Clerk/Administrator Rachel Stapleton.
Chief Taufen called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m.
MINUTES: Bechtold made a motion to approve the minutes of the
February 5, 1991 meeting as corrected as follows:
FIRE CHIEF REPORTS - OLD BUSINESS: "The Chief wi 11 check
on quality of painting done by the low biddinq contractor
prior to painting the Fire Hall. " and FIRE CHIEF
REQUESTS: 3) Chief also stated he would like to acquire
four new firefighters, " seconded by Sadlo.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.
QUARTERLY FINANCIAL REPORT: Sadlo made a motion to approve the
quarterly financial report as with the deletion of $84.85 for
hydrant flags, check number 16263, Water Products Company,
- because this is not a Fire Department expenditure. The motion
was seconded by Bechtold.
- Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.
FIRE CHIEFS REPORT AND OLD BUSINESS: a) st. John's Fire
protection - The Fire Department members were favorable to the
request that St. Joseph Fire Department cover their area.
Most of the area lies in st. Wendel Township. The Fire Chief
will talk to st. John's officials.
b) The Fire Chief met with the low bidder, for painting the
Fire Hall Hill take two to three days.
c) Sixteen members of the Fire Department have agreed to take
the HIV shots.
d) Three members of the Fire Department went to Fire School,
which was held last weekend.
e) The Fire Department will need to acquire four new members.
RESCUE VAN: The new rescue van recently purchased, seems to be
working well. The old van and pump were sold at the City
auction.
STATE FIRE CONVENTION: The Chief requested to send four
firefighters to the State Fire Convention. Because it wi 11 be
held in st. Cloud this year there ~"i II be no motel room
expenses and less per diem. Registration is $95 each.
. CONTRACT FOR EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT: Central Minnesota Medical
Services Council has offered a contract to pay a portion of

equipment replacement. They will pay $375 of $1332 for three
replacernent pagers.
Fire Apparatus has been serviced for this year. We had some
repair work done and the equipment serviced on the same call.
SadIe requested t.hat the Fire Board is alerted of the
machinery needs of the Fire Department ahead of time. The
Board discussed the need for more storage space for Fire
Equipment, and parking space for members ans~.¡ering calls.
Sadlo made a motion to adjourn at 9:24 p.m. The motion was
