- Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Fire Advisory
Board of the City and Township of st. Joseph met on Wednesday,
August 12, 1992 at 8:00 p.m. in Ci ty Hall Annex.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Town Representative Joe Bechtold, City
Representative Leo Sadlo, Fire Chief Richard Taufen, City
Clerk/Administrator Rachel Stapleton.
Chief Taufen called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m.
MINUTES: Sadlo made a motion to approve the minutes of the
May 6, 1992 meeting as presented; seconded by Bechtold.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.
QUARTERLY FINANCIAL REPORT: Sadlo made a motion to approve the
quarterly financial report with the exception of $128.62 to
St. Cloud Fire Equipment which shows payment twice; seconded
by Bechtold. The motion was seconded by Bechtold.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.
FIRE CHIEFS REPORT AND OLD BUSINESS: a) st. John's Fire
protection -The Fire Chief spoke with Dan Weber at st. John's
- regarding fire protection service. Brother Leo is in charge
- of fire protection now and they seem to wish to stay on their
own. st. John's bought a new truck and has invited the st.
Joseph and Avon Fire Departments to see it and go over it. b)
All the department members receiving shots have received two
of them. The third will be administered in November.
c) Fire hall painting project is completed.
d) Three new firefighter applicants out of five, were
accepted by the department by a vote of the members.
e) All the reimbursements and grants for equipment and
training has been received.
NEW BUSINESS: a) Fire Chiefs Convention - Motion by Sadlo;
second by Bechtold to approve Fire Chief's attendance at Fire
Chiefs convention in Willmar, October 15-18.
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.
b) The revised billing for the Townships and City with the
updated valuations has been sent. The Board agreed to stay
with this valuation spread through 1993.
c) Board discussed the proposed 1993 budget and agreed to
include st. Ben's donation of $5,000 in the operating expenses
for 1993. Sadlo made a motion to approve the 1993 proposed
budget of $110,083 expenditures, and the Townships and City
. total contributions will be $90,000. The motion was seconded
by Bechtold.

- Nayes: None. Motion carried.
- d) The Board agreed to an audit for 1993.
e) Sadlo moved and Bechtold seconded, to approve the
following capital outlay requests:
eight pair of bunker pants and boots for total of $1,800
positive pressure fan at about $1350
team building - $280
Ayes: Bechtold, Sadlo, Taufen.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.
The Firefighters fund raiser is August 20 at the LaPlayette.
The raffle will be held in the Fire Hall because it can not be
held at the LaPlayette.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 with a motion by Sadlo;
second by Bechtold.
