HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987 [05] May 14 1486 May 14, 1987 I Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council for the City of St. Joseph met as a Board of Review on Thursday, May 14, 1987 at 7:00 p.m. ~~mQ~r§ rrê§ê~~~ Acting Mayor Donald "Bud" Reber, Steve Dehler, Leo Sadlo, Ross Rieke, City Assessor Ollie Lesnick, County Assessor Bob Lindvall, and Judy Weyrens Adm. Sec. (Mayor Loso vacationing in Germany) º1b~rê Er~ê~~~~ Ted Duncan, Tom Daniel, Ed Kacures, and Bob Loso. Bob Loso --- ---- He recently sold his mobile home and would like his none- homestead standing to change to homestead effective from the date of sale. Bob Lindvall explained that mobile homes have different standards than homes, and you can not change your standing during the year, what you are on January 1 is your status for the whole year. IêQ Q~~£~~~ parcel #84-53673 I Questioned why the assessed value went up $13,200 from the previous year. After discussion, Ollie Lesnick and Bob Lindvall discovered that a typographical error had been made on his card, and his assessed value actually went up $3,600. Mr Duncan then asked why his assessed value went up the 3,600. Ollie Lesnick stated that the porch he added caused the increase. The amount was figured on $12.00 per square foot. IQm Q~~!~l~ DDD Partnership - parcel # 84-53911 Was not concerned with his valuation, but felt that his was high compared to that of other funeral homes in the area. Bob Lindvall was familiar with the concern, and he stated that they are looking into it. gQ ߪ£~r~ª~ parcel # 84-53751 Questioned the amount of City taxes on his property. Acting Mayor Bud Reber, stated that this was not the proper meeting to discuss City taxes, but could be put on the City Council agenda if he wished to pursue the issue. §~êYê Qêhlêr~ parcel # 84-53857 Question why the valuation had jumped 19% on his property. Ollie Lesnick stated that the commercial valuation in St. Joseph is comparatively low and they must start raising it I because if they don't the State will. ~Qh~ bQªQ~ parcel # 84-53414 The Board of Review received a letter from Mr. Loso, asking them to reconsider and change their status from non-homestead to homestead. Mr Loso is currently living in Nebraska, in 1487 .. - his absence, his daughter is living in his home, but he plans to return to his home in 3 years. The Board of Review decided that the home would have to remain non-homestead. Steve Dehler made a motion to adjourn the Board of Review meeting at 8:00 p.m. Seconded by Rieke. Ayes: Reber, Dehler, Sadlo, Rieke. Nayes: None. Motion Carried. Acting Mayor opened the meeting as a special City Council meeting. Rieke made a motion to adopt the resolution for annexation for the Luthern Church and Developer Dale Salo. Seconded by Sadlo. Ayes: Reber, Dehler, Sadlo, Rieke. Nayes: None. Motion Carried.
