Mayor Mike Loso called the meeting to order at 8;00 p.m. and introduced Jana King of St. Cloud Area Economic Development. Jana discussed that Hutchinson Technology, a computer I component manufacturer, is interested in expanding to the Columbia Gear Building in St. Joseph Township. They are also looking at other cities but prefer the st. Cloud area. If they should chose to locate in the proposed building, the company would need City water and sewer which would require annexation of the property. The water and sewer extension probably vJOuld be grant eligible. City Engineer Gale Eastwood discussed methods and costs of providing water and sewer to the area. City Council and Town Board members discussed annexation. Both Boards were in general agreement that annexation could be worked out if the Company makes a commitment to locate in the proposed building. Discussion covered dispersment of tax revenues and methods of annexation. The Township expressed a desire to receive yearly, the amount of revenue which they currently receive from this parcel of property and a concern over losing future revenue from future annexations. The Township also suggested the possibility of a future merger between the Township and City and discussed establishing orderly annexation areas. ''\t, Mayor Loso appointed the City Clerk to draft a letter to I Hutchinson Technology stating that both the City and Township are in agreement to continue negotiations and are willing to work out an annexation agreement, if the Company will make an affirmation to locate here.
