Joseph met as the Board of Review on Tuesday, May 16, 1978 at 8 p.m. In City Hall for the purpose of reviewing and correcting the assessmenmof the - City of st. Joseph for the year 1978. Members Present: Acting Mayor Herman Schneider; Councilmen, Mike Husen, Clerk Bob Johnson. Absent: Mayor Hugo B. Weyrens; Councilmen: Bud Reber and steve Dehler. Others Present: City Assessor Ollie Lesnick, County Assessor Tom Kurpius. Residents: Dick Laing, Frank Ell and Claude Menzhuber. Dick Laing: Dick Laing inquired reason for valuation increases on his property. Assessor explained increase was placed on all properties in ci ty . Laing indicated satisfaction with the explanation of valuation increase. Frank E 11 : Concerned about amount of valuation increase. House 75 to 100 years old. Students occupying house next door. (29,819 market value) assessors felt market value fair due to size and condition of residence. Assessor Lesnick to re-examine property. Claude Menzhuber: Concerned about valuation on residence in crty. Non- Homestead results in a 50% to 60% highe~~uation. ~ Due to a lack of Board of Review quorum the signing of assessment documents and other pertinent matters were postponed to a later date. Adjournment: The Board of Review adjourned at 9:15 p.m. ~~
