Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the City Council met in session on Thursday,
May 22, 1980 at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall.
Members Present: Mayor Hugo B. Weyrens; Councilmen Herman Schneider, steve I
Dehler, Mike Husen; Clerk Bob Johnson. (Absent: Councilman Bud Reber -
due to job committment distance.)
others Present: Police Chief Lorentz.
Chief Lorentz presented a liquor violation report.
Lorentz also reported gross misdemeanors and felonies will require
local reporting and investigation. Discussion of need for additional
police department space held.
Prosecution section of Leaque of Cities proposed legislative policies
reviewed.
Liquor Applications: A motion was made by Schneider seconded by Dehler to
approve the following liquor applications:
On-sale - Off-Sale - Sunday Liquor:
EI Paso Club & Lanes, Inc.
Dale A. Schneider, dba, Sal's Liquor Lounge
Lamprecht, Inc. , dba, Midway Bar
La Playette, Inc.
Club On-sale - Sunday:

Wine License:
Richard Battig - Grafitti Pizza
Ayes: Weyrens, Schneider Dehler, Husen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
Attorney Report: Seal Coating contractor insurance coverage reported not in
order by City Attorney. Referral to City Engineer for contractor contact
advised.
Minors in Bars: Leaque recommends a minor in bars prohibition to be included in
ordinance. Re-writing liquor ordinances will be completed for Council
first reading by next meeting.
Damage at Park shelter: Damage to park shelter building electrical service, and
roof after the recent spring Fling celebration has been reported.
Damage estimates are being compiled.
Liquor Violation Notice: A mailed notice will be sent to licensee on liquor
violation - hearing to be scheduled for June 5, 1980. I
Cloverdale Estates 2nd Addn. Re-Zoning: A motion was made by Husen seconded by
Schneider to approve the following re-zoning of Cloverdale Estates 2nd
Addn. : Block one(l), Block two (2), Block five ( 5) , Block six (6),
981
Block seven (7), to R-2 Residence District, and Block three (3), Block
four (4), and Block eight (8) , to R-3 Multiple Residence District.
Ayes: Weyrens, Schneider, Dehler, Husen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.

Advertising Allotment Change: Motion was made by Husen to increase $200.00
advertising allotment for st. Benedict's billboard by $25.00 to $225.00.
(1500 Benedictine Birthday.) Motion was seconded by Dehler.
Ayes: Weyrens, Schneider, Dehler, Husen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
Gas Conversion: Schneider suggested investigating possibility of connecting
plant furnace - to gas operation.
planning Report: Councilman Husen presented a report on planning Commission work
on re-drafting a new zoning Ordinance.
Flashers: A motion was made by Schneider seconded by Husen to approve City
participation in a City-County project upgrading the Highway #75 & #2
flashers. Total cost low bid $5,800.00 (2/3 City - 1/3 County).
Voting for motion: Schneider, Husen, Weyrens.
Voting against motion: Dehler. Dehler's reason: approval should be
on basis that speed would be reduced
5 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour.
Motion carried.
Hockey Rink Repairs & Painting: A motion was made by Husen seconded by Schneider
to approve 20 gallons of paint for hockey rirtk boards re-painting.
- Ayes: Weyrens, Schneider, Dehler, Husen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
Minutes Correction: A motion was made by Husen seconded by Dehler to approve minutes
of May 8, 1980 with the following correction: add to end of A-95 Review
paragraph: the review pertained to the proposed five townhouses to be
constructed on Lots 1-2-3-4 Blk 4 Cloverdale Estates Seconded Addition
on 9th Ave. S. E.
Ayes: Weyrens, schneider, Dehler, Husen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
Adjournment: A motion was made by Schneider seconded by Husen to adjourn at 10:30 p.m.
Ayes: Weyrens, Schneider, Dehler, Husen.
Nayes: None Motion carried.
