special Meeting
City Council - Cable Commission I
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the City Council of the City of
st. Joseph and the newly appointed City Cable Communications Commission
met in session on Tuesday, February 28, 1984 at 7:30 p.m. in Ci ty Hall.
Council Members Present: Mayor Mike Loso; Councilmen: Herman Schneider, Bud
Reber, Steve Dehler, Mike Husen; City Clerk, Bob Johnson.
Cable Commission Members Present: Karen Ahles, Al Maleska, Ross Rieke, Charles
Eckroth. (Absent: Norma Dickau.)
Cable Applications Review: The following Cable Communications applications
were received:
1) Westel, Inc. , Rapid City, S.D.
2) Cascade Cable Corp., Denver, Col.
3) Dowden Communciations, Inc. (Dow-Sat of Minn.), Atlanta, GA
4) Marcus Communications, Inc. , st. Cloud, MN
5) DawsComm, Inc., Dawson, MN
The group reviewed applications, examined additional Cable Communication
material presented and heQd a general discussion session of questions and
answers relating to the five bid applications and other cable matters. I
Cable member , Charles Eckroth, presented copies of a computer printout
listing most of the bid items for comparison. The group prepared questions
for the Thursday, March 1, 1984, 8:00 p.m. public hearing, to be presented
to the appropriate bidder. The group appeared in complete agreement that
a franchise would not be granted at Thursday's public hearing. More time
will be taken to analyze applications and obtain answers to cable questions.
The newly appointed Cable Commission will be holding an organizational
meeing in the near future.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 p.m. ~
