Minutes of the meetj.ng of the Village Council February 5, 1952
The Village Council of the Village of St. Jo¡:;eph met in reguàar
I sesÐion at the Village Hall Feb. 5, 1952 at the hour of 8:00 F.M. All
members of the council were IJTeSent.
The minutes of the meeting of J an . £3 , 1952 were read and motion made
by Reynold Kellner to accept them as read. Sec. by Julian Botz, Carried.

A petition,signed by sixty-three voters of the Village of St. Joseph,
. requesting the council to establish a municipal liquor store was presented
No action *as taken for t~e present.
Motion made by ITulian Botz to allow Nick Borresch to iatall a siren
and stop light on his auto to be used for police purposes. Sec. by
Virgil Lodermeier. Carried,
There being no further business motion duly made and seconded to
adjourn. Carried.

JursuEmt to due co_II and no t ice thereof a special reeeting of the
Village Ccmnc 11 of the Village of st. Jo;:.eph, Minnesota, was held at I
the Villa/?e Hall in said Village on _February 15, 1952, at six 0 "clock F .M.
All members of the council were present, viz: Oscar J. Krebsbach,
Virgil Lodermeier, Heynold Y,'ellner, Julian Botz, and Yv7m. Meinz. None
were absent.
Kember Julian Botz intorduced the following resolution and moved ~ts
adoption. It was seconded by Reynold Kellner.

Whereas, the Village of St. JoseI)h is authorized by law to es.tabli sh
a municipal dmspensary for the sale of intoxicating liquor.
And Wn~reas, suggestions have been made to the council that such a
dispensary shòuld be established in the Village of ;:;t. Joseph.
And V.'hereas, the council would like to seek the adviSe of the voters
before taking any official action on the s e s ug g est ion s , even though the
statutes do not make the vote of the electorate binding on the council
on the propositicn of establishing a municipal liquor dispensary.
pow, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of the Village of St.
Jo~eph that an advisory referendum of the voters be held on this pro-
posa.l at tlie Village Hall on Earch 18, 1952 betv. een the hours of 7:00
A. r. and ~:OO F.M. andthat the clerk be instructed to arrange for the
conduct of such a referendum in the least expensive way poseiole but in
suer; a manner that the free and clear expression of. t:he voters' senti-
ment s on t}~e question of establisllInent of a municipal liquor dispensary
may be obtained.

Tne motion for t he adopt i on of the foregoing resolution was duly
seconded by member Reynold Kellner, and upon vote being taken thereon,
the following vuted in favor thereof: Oscar J. Krebsb~ch, VIm. Meinz,
Virgil Lodermeier, Reynold Kellner, Dnd Julian :Dotz, None ~oted against
the same.
Upon motion duly made and seconded meeting was adjourned.
