The Village Council of the Village of St. Joseph met in regular session at the village hall on January 3, 1956 at the hour of e PM. All :<JeJ'lf:k:r'S of the cou_Ylcil '\;Tere present. I The mj._nutes of the meeting of December 6 ,,¡ere read and motion irJasmacle to accept the minutes as read. Ne'ltTly elected officers of the village took the oath of office. They were, Oscar Krebsbach, Mayor, Adrian Sauer, Treasurer, and David Pfan- elî steii:f:iás".tImstee. -Mr. Arthur Hart of the Bergersen-Caswell Inc. represented the co- pany and explained their bill for repair of the water well. The Mayor and Counnil contended the bill was excessive for the amouBt of work done. Also that the estimateed bill in both cases was only t the che.rge. Hr. Hart gave his vie'\\rpoint of the i¡TOr};: and said he felt the charge vms justifiable and that no extra 'Hork hÐd been made. The mayor asked for a compromise of the charge and a reduction made. Ì'lr. Hart agéÜn stated he felt no overcharge '\:Jas "lade but of'fered a nominal reduction. l1a:,/or Krebsbach,S concluded that \-TaS not satisfactory. Discvssion was held on the check received form the state for the sale of gravel. The amount received was far shor of the estimate and depositing check vIas held up until inforrnation C01J.ld be obtained \'Thy the low figure was sent. Discussion was held on the future repair work on the village park and baseball groèmds. Athletic assoc. was informed to let the council kno'l,'.1' its future plans first before commi trnent 'I"ras nade as to aid in repair of ~ence andbleachers. After discussion and 6hecking of salaries of ather village clerks J. motion 'VT2S made bY'.',Herman SChneider. to raise clerk S, alary from $25 Fl nthly salary to ~¡;40. Seconded by Juliåm Bctz. , Herman Schneider made a motion to appoint Julian Botz acting mayor, seconded bv David Pfannenstein.
