VILLAGE OF ST. JOSEPH, MINNESOTA
}.ITNUTES OF SPECIAL VILLAGE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON \VEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 22, 1971
The Village Council of the Village of St. Joseph met in special session on I
Wednesday, December 22, 1971 with the following members present: Mayor George
Gustin; Councilmen, Herman Schneider, Roman Reber, Bud Reber, John Schroeder;
Clerk, Bob Johnson. Also present was Bernie Brinkman, State representative
from Richmond, Minnesota on invitation by councilman John Schroeder.
Discussion and examination of tax levy limitation information received from
Office of Tax Commissioner was held.
Check in the amount of $900.00 from St. Joseph Township for part payment of
fire protection CÐsts was received today.
Motion made by Roman Reber seaconded by John Schroeder to pay Milner Carley
fee of $690.00 for surfacing project and Watertower Paint and Repair
statement previously tabled. Motion carried.
1-10tion was made by Bud Reber seconded by John Schroeder to remove Fire Relief
levy of $610.00 and make additional reduction in 1971 general levy of $2272.23
to conform with State levy limitation total of $40,003.77 for 1972. Motion
carried.
The fire relief levy was removed on a temporary basis, and is to be re-enstated
whenever the financial condition of the fund dictates, according to the
FiremensRelief Association guidelines Act of 1971.
Clerk to call office of tax commissioner tomorrow for ruling on special levies I
question. The name of Jerry Sulky, of the tax office, was suggested by
representative Brinkman. Mr. Brinkman also volunteered to aid in seeking
this information if necessary.
A motion to adjourn was made at 9:45 p.m.
