VILLAGE OF ST. JOSEPH
MINUTES OF REGULAR VILLAGE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON MARCH 7, 1968
The Village Council met in regular session on Thursday, March 7, 1968 with the I
following members present: Zwack, Schneider, Reber, Schroeder, Johnson, Attorney
John Knapp and Police Chief Bill Lorentz.
NSP representative Bill Daniel was present to review street lighting program.
Project reported 60% completed. On motion by Reber seconded by Schneider the
following additions were included in street light progråm: Increase size of ¿;-
last two lights on West Minnesota Street from 7,000 lumens to 11,000 lumens,
correspond with size on East Minnesota. Add two 7,000 lumen lights further west
on }finnesota to village limits, and add a 7,000 lumen on the 2nd Ave. SW deadend.
O. C. Nierkhising presented a request for the following building permits: (1) to
construct residence on Lot 4 less N 10 ft Blk 1 in Lodermeier's Addn. Plans to
be submitted to building inspector. (2) To construct residence on Sthly 1/3 of
lot 5 & 6 Bk 6 Townsite - this plan based on purchase of Nthly 2/3 of lot 4 'from
village. (3) Erection of car port on present residence lot 8 Bk 13 Townsite.
Plans tòJøe submitted.
Water pressure problem at La Playette to be examined by Herman Schneider.
Bob Lodermeier, representing Rod & Gun Club, present to discuss village parti-
cipation in construction of building at duck reserve, availability of NYC workers
for Kremer Lake projects. Extent of local participation in NYC program unknown
at this time.
Water level problem at treatment plant pond discussed - problem cited as critical - I
level of pond to be raised 6 to 8 inches.
Assessor Ollie Lesnick presented notice of error in personal property tax of Sal
Schneider and Harvey Botz - corrections approved on motion by Schneider seconded ,
by Schroeder as recommended by assessor.
Motion made by Schroeder seconded by Reber to pay bills as presented.
Water pumping report for 1967 presented and plaoed on file.
A motion was made by Reber seconded by Schneider to amend Ordinance No. 52 to
include new permit fee schedule as recommended by Planning Commission.
On motion by Schneider seconded by Reber the council established a $25.00 fee
for 6 x 10 street surface incision and excavation with additions based on engineers'
report.
Sidewall( installation and repair questions presented with council continuing
policy of village participation in cost relating to resictential installations.
Storm se"ler improvements placed on summer completion schedule were: St. Bene-
dicts driveway entrance on Minnesota Street and Schneider - Kelly alley area.
New dog control pølicy placing emphasis on controlling ovmer placed in effect.
Sale of village owned property knovm as former Borresch property tabled for I
further council examination.
