1-lINUTES OF REGULAR VILLAGE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON MAY 9, 1968
The Village Council of the Village of St. Joseph met in regular session on I
Thursday, May 9, 1968 with the following members present: Zwack, Schneider,
Reber, Schroeder, Johnson, Attorney John Knapp, Engineer R. W. Teague and
Police Chief Lorentz.
Minutes of the April meetings were approved as read on motion by Schroeder
seconded by Schneider. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Zimmer were present and heard the
council express a desire to purchase 40 ft of the N 148 of Lots 4 - 5 and 6
Townsite, the described property owned by Mr. and Mrs. Zimmer and abutting the
village hall property on the north. Another meeting of interested parties to
be scheduled in the near future. Village needs the property to expand its
water department and garage facilities.
Mike Loso, a school borad representative, presetned a report on park property
desposition. Informed council of school borad decision to transfer property
to village for the $1.00 fee. School board also decided to move playground
equipment and fence on north ànd east side of park to new school area. Fencing
on south and west sides to remain intact. The property has a total of $6898.47
in unpaid special assessments.
On motion by Schroeder seconded by Schneider the council approved the transfer
of property. Motion carried.
Discussion of street repairs and seal coating held with engineer.
Engineer Teague presented report on well No. 2 test - after examination and I
further discussion a motion was made by Schneider seconded by Reber to have
engineer proceed with plans and specs for the new well and pump house construct-
ion. Motion carried.
On motion by Reber seconded by Schneider the council decided not to sell property
in the ball park area. The council had received a request to purchase a part
of the former Borresch property now owned by the Village. Motion carried.
Request of Chief Lorentz for full payment of insurance on patrol car and ..
increased hospitalization benefits were tabled for further study.
Bills were approved for payment as presented on motion by Reber seconded by
Schroeder.
The following on and off-sale liquor applications were approved on motion by
Reber seconded by Schneider: Claude and Marion Menzhuber, El Paso Bar and Lanes;
Reuben Wiener, Midway Bar; Helen Jaren, Jaren's; and American Legion. The
applications of Catherine Dierkhising, La Playette Loung~ and V F W Post were
incomplete and not submitted in time for approval.
Sal and Ed Schneider presented requests for information regarding trailer house,
parking on property located north of highway. Complete sewer and water connec-
tions and assessment policy are being examined by council and referred to
engineer for study. I
