JOSEPH NTNUTES OF REGULAR VILLAGE COUNCIL NEETING HELD ON NOVU1BER 7, 1968 The Village council of the Village of St. Joseph met in regular session on I Nov. 7, 1968 with the follo\'lÌng members present: Herman Schneider, acting mayor, Reber, Schroeder, Johnson, Lorentz, Attorney John Knapp and Engineer R. 1;[. Teague. Minutes of previous meeting approved as read. Attorney John Knapp opened hearing on vacation of part of alley in Block 6, Original t~v.nsite: that part of the North-South alley lying ivithin the North half of Block 6. After hearing all parties interested and there being no one present who opposed the alley vacation, a motion was made by Reber seconded by Schreoder to approve vacation of said alley. }lotion carried. Engineer Teague presented a report on Well No.2 and Pump house project. The engineer advised a 30-day pumping trial - a test for efficiency and power. Street Seal coat project report submitted by engineer Teague. State aid engineers considered job acceptable but not first r,ate. Drainage problerÅ“ examined and discussed. Don Carley, engineer, of ~filner W Carley and Associates submitted an engineer- ing fee schedule for council examination. A motion was made by Schroeder seconded by Reber to engage Milner W. Carly and Associates as consulting engineers for the Village of St. Joseph. l'-íotion carried. I Engineer Teague suggested council continue planning iron removal plant con- struction and water and sewer extensions to east end area. Don Carley re- quested to J11..a.ke preliminary survey of east end area. Herman Schneider report- ed request for information regarding possibility of annexation of approx- imately 130 acre area north of railroad - Rothfork property. Question tabled after discussion. El Paso sewer line repairs reported by Schnieder. Seal coat project dirt hauled to El Paso site also reported and discussed. Mike 10so, fire chief, presented requests for establishment of a $2000. fire dept. budget and radio installations in fire trucks. Council to examine and further discuss requests. Further discussion of junk car ordinance held with Attorney John Knapp. A motion was made by Schroeder seconded by Reber to pay bills as presented. Hotion carried. A mòtion was made by Schroeder seconded by Reber to approve election re- .sults as certified by election judges. Hotion carried. On motion by Reber seconded by Schroeder the 1969 tax levy was set as follows: General Revenu.e - $20,200.00; Lights - $3800.00; Recreation - $1800.00; Firemen's Relief - $586.00; Street Maintenance - $2500.00. Total levy - $28,886.00. I 1'10tion carried. A motion was made by Schroeder seconded by Reber to approve assessor attendance at school - Motion carried. Cost of placing police phones in Lorentz and Reber residences reported as $27.80 per month cost.
