MINUTES OF REGULAR VILLAGE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY JULY ~, 1970
The Village Council of the Village of St. Joseph met in regular session on Thursday
July 9, 1970 with the following members present: Mayor George Gustin; councilmen I
Herman Schneider, Roman Reber, Dick Schroeder; Clerk Bob Johnson; Attorney John
Knapp.
Minutes of June meetings approved on motion by Schroeder seconded by Schneider.
Mayor Gustin reported on fertilizer tank question at creamery including the
effect of tank-truck loading on nearby gardens. The creamery operator report-
ed receiving a 16 page form for completion from the Pollution Control Agency.
The village has not received a letter or other information from PCA regarding
this matter.
The Lions Club has decided not to take over the park picnic area but indicated
an interest in providiªg playground equipment.
No meeting has been scheduled with Three-Way Construction regarding Storm
Sewer project completion - village to complete work and deduct cost.
Dog complaints were presented citing Don Fleming, Bob Borresch~~ter and
Drake Dierkhising owners to be notified by Chief Lorentz.
A motion was made by Councilman Schroeder seconded by Coàncilman Schneider to
approve the appointment of Donald Post to the Planning Commission. Motion
carried unanimously.
Art Gerber, Easy Wash, building permit application examined and approved upon I
receipt of plan and material list.

Bill Gohman given verbal notice of complaints on accumulation of l,tter and
junk in his shop area. Letter to follow in 2 weeks if no action is taken
by Gohman.
Mayor Gustin reported on his request presented to Lions Club to use bingo
funds for local youth summer work program. Possible aid from veteran organ-
ization also reported. Insurance coverage provided by village.
Recreation program injury reported to Frankie Loso, son of Dan Loso. Reported
hit in mouth by baseball pitched by supervisor. Supervisor accompanied boy to
home and dentist's office. Report of supervisor placed on file.
Discussion held on radios for civil defense and fire dept. matter tabled.
A motion was made by councilman Schnoeder and seconded by councilman Schneider
to pay bills as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
The request for typewriter purchase at $205.00 for police dept. was tabled.
Police Chief Lorentz instructed to obtain bids.
Sludge hauling question examined - driver to be paid at the rate of $2.00 per
hour.
