MINUTES OF REGULAR VLLAGE COUNCL NEETING HELD ON AUG. 6, 1970
The Village Council of the Village of St. Joseph met in regular session on Thurs-
I day, August 6, 1970 with the following members present: Mayor George Gustin;
Coun~ilmen, Roman Reber and Dick Schroeder; clerk Bob Johnson, Attorney John Knapp
and engineer R.W. Teague. (Absent councilman Herman Schneider, vacation)
Motion to approve minutes of July meetings was made by councilman Schroeder seconded
by councilman Reber - motion carried.
First council agenda item, consideration of application for an on-sale, non-intoxi-
cating liquor license submitted by Graffiti, Inc. Application approved on motion by
Reber seconded by Johnson. Voting for: Reber, Johnson, Gustion, abstaining, Schroeder.
Second agenda item considered - Request for funds for cnnstruction of hockey rink.
Plans & costs submitted and eVamined. Hockey delegation to contact public school
and Lions Club officials.
John Schroeder, 32 - 1st Ave. S,E., reported extensive damage to roof of his residence
by a pet crow. Owner of crow to be notified by letter to confine bird to premises.
Bids for purchase of police dept. typewriter were examined and on motion by Schroeder
seconded by Reber council a~proved purshase of Olivetti Model 48 from Chader Business
Machines for $212.50. One- ear guarantee of parts and service inclmded. motion
carried.
Fence survey to be conducted by Reber and Johnson.

I Engineer R.W. Teague present to dmscuss plans for water Improvement 1970, hall addi-
tion and filtration unit project. REA building front at Melrose to be examined
by council members.
Attorney John Knapp read letter to Zimme~s from their attorney regarding siding
change on hall addition.
Three-Way Construction contrac~torm sewer project - reviewed. Council agreed to
hold final payment until restoration is completed by other party to satisfaction of
Village Council. Cost to be deducted from balance of payment due Three-Way.
Attorney John Knapp to dispatch letter to Three-Way Construction regarding mhtter.
County Planning director Ken H,pke to be notified of village participation in
county program on motion by Reber seconded by Schroeder. motion carried.

Louis Rassier, Village Civil Defense director, presented a report on ~reement being
prepared by County attorney for village and townships~for emergency re cue vehicle
use. Council to take action after receipt and review of county agreement.
A motion was made by Reber seconded by Schroeder to allocate $25.00 to Glenn Deutz,
Kremer Lake Assn., for swim program improvement. motion carried.
Street signs for school, street traffic control painting to be completed next week.
Stop sign to be installed on Elm Street West, junction ¡of 1st Ave. N.W. Trailer
Court area.
ß Motion was made by Reber seconded by Schroeder to pay bills as presented.
