VILLAGE OF ST. JOSEPH, MINNESOTA
NINUTES OF SPECIAL VILLAGE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 19, 1970
I The Village Council of the Village of St. Joseph met in special session on
Monday, October 19, 1970 with the following members present: Mayor George
Gustin; Councilmen Herman Schneider, Roman Reber, Richard Schroeder; Clerk Bob
Johnson; Attorney John Knapp, Engineer R. W. Teague.
Purpose of meeting - to open bids for Water System Improvement No. 1970 -
Iron Removal Plant and Building addition.
Five bids were received and examined. The bids were as follows:
Holm Bros. - Atwater, Minnesota
Bid: $JA8, 366.00
Magney Construction Co. Inc. Mpls, Minn.
Bid: $145,490.00
Orvedahl Construction Co. Inc. Mpls, Minn
Bid: ~jl38,200.00
Preusser Construction Inc., - St. Cloud, Minn.
Bid $131,032.00
Willard Gohman Construction Co., St. Joseph, Minn
Bid: $119,572.00
I A motion made by Schneider seconded by Schroeder to accept the low total
base bid submitted by Gohman Construction, St. Joseph in the amount of $119,572.00
subject to final approval of Engineer R. W. Teague. Motion carried
Under terms of the contract the the project will start within 30 days and be
completed in 320 days.
Bill Loso was called to the meeting at this point regarding removal of granite
curb abutting his property on College Ave and Minnesota Street. Replacement
with regular curb necessary to achieve proper grade on sidewalk being replaced
be Bell Telephone Co. after installation of underground cable on College Ave.
Loso would not agree to curb replacement.
Dn motion by Schroeder seconded by Schneider the council approved a letter
by Attorney Knapp to District Highway Engineer, Brainerd, indicating the
following preference of proposed 194 through St. Joseph: Route 2 from West of
St. Joseph to intersect route 3 and route 5 to St. Augusta - a conbination
of the most southerly route. Hotion carried.
Motion to adjourn was made at 9:30 p.m.
