MINUTES OF BOARD OF REVIJiM - MAY 29, 1974 at 7:30 p.m.
The City Council met aB the Board of Review on Wednesday,May 29, at 7:30 p.m~
I in City with the following members present: Mayor Harry J. Knevel; Councilmmen,
Herman Schneider, Roman Reber, Bud Reber, Absent Hugo Weyrens; Clerk Bob
Johnson; City Assessor Ollie Lesnick. Also present were: County Assessor
Cy Wenner and Asst. Junie Wiesbrick.
Mr and Mrs. David Sullivan, Eastern Park Addn., reportedly were informed upon
purchase of a new residence that the taxes would not exceed $500.00 per year.
Current taxes reported at approx. $650.00. Assessor Ollie Lesnick briefly des-
cribed:the assessed valuation process. Home was purchased for $28,800 and had
a current market value established by Lesnick of $27,515.00 relating to market
and assessed valuations on several of his properties - former house since removed
from site occupied by Kay's Kitchen. House removed prior to Jan. 2, 1974.
Small house removed for parking had a $6,000. market value, including land, set
by State appraisers in 1971. Cafe market value set at $25,750. includes· land.
Elmer Rakotz requested some explanation of methods of assessment and taxation _
reported no complaints.
MØtion made by Roman Reber seconded by Herman Schneider to close Board of Review
meeting at 8:30 p.m. Motion carried.
Council re-convened at 8:35 p.m. for a special session.
Inquiry by Dr. Richard G. Lorenz, D.D.S. concern available property for commercial
structure - planning commission secretary to receive information.
II Nick Borresch trailer question explored -report made by Bill Lorentz - trailer
reportedly placed in alley.
Motion made by Bud Reber seconded by Roman Reber to approve Ordinance No. 1974-D
extending corporate limits of city to include certain platted land abutting upon
the city limits. (Trailer court addition). Motion carried.
Motion made by Herman Schneider seconded by Bud Reber to change regular July council
meeting from July 4th to July 2. Notice to be published. Motion carried.
Motion made by Roman Reber seconded by Herman Schneider to adjourn at 10:10 p.m.
