CITY OF ST. JOSEPH, MINNESOTA
MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 8, 1974
The City Council of the City of St. Joseph met in regular session ôn Thursday, Aug 8, 1974
at 7:15 p.m. with the following members present: Mayor Harry Knevel; councilmen,
Herman Schneider, Roman, Bud Reber, Hugo Weyrens; Clerk Bob Johnson; A ttoI'Iley John I
Knapp; Engineer Joe Bettendorf; Fire Chief Mike Loso, Asst. Chief Bill Wasner.
Representatives of bid firms were also present.
Minutes of July 10 meeting approved as presented.
Fire truck bids were opened at 7:30 p.m. with the following bids received:
1.) Tenvoorde - 2 chassis - $28,860.00 ($14,430 each)
2.) FMC-John Bear - Hi Pressure Apparatus - $36,200.00
3.) Howe Fire Apparatus - Audison, Indiana - Hi Pressure Apparatus $41,641.00
4.) General Safety Equipment Corp - Aerial apparatus $71,250.00
Special meeting scheduled for Aug 15, 1974 at 7 p.m. with Fire Dept heads to examine
bids and take final action.
Motion was made by Roman Reber seconded by Hugo Weyrens to approve application for
fire department membership of Ervin E. Klitzke. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Bud Reber seconded by Roman Reber to instruct mayor to notify
St. Joseph and St. Wendel townships of Sept 3, 1974 deadlinefoi acknowledge parti-
cipation in fire district proposal concept, with interest to terminate existing
contract on January 1, 1975. Motion carried.
Motion made by Herman Schneider seconded by Hugo Weyrens to accept treasurers report
as presented. Motion carried. I
Motion made by Herman Schneider seconded by Hugo Weyrens to pay bills as presented.
Motion carried.
Curb installation on Minnesota Street questioned reported - finish has rain damage.
Engineer to report and discuss problem with Hardrives.
Engineer to check restoration problems with Dominick Bros and Bell Telephone on
Minnesota Street project.
Motion was made by Bud Reber seconded by Herman Schneider to accept bond bid of
First State Bank of St. Joseph at the rate of 6t.% on alO year - $25,000. issue.
Motion carried.
Motion made by Herman Schneider seconded by Hugo Weyrens to approve purchase of
2 amber revolving vehicle lights, a 1 horse air compressor and 3 fire extinguishers.
Motion was made by Bud Reber seconded by Hugo Weyrens to approve the VFW request
to hold a street dance Aug 10, 1974 and prohibit the Aug 17 street dance scheduled
in ~ark ~errace. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Roman Reber seconded by Hugo Weyrens to send letter to Rdunty
Planner stating city's apposition to establish critical area designation along and
adjacent to Hwy I-94 - T.H. 15 - T.H.23 & T.H. 152. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Hugo Weyrens seconded by Roman Reber to approve payment of 50% I
of cost of assessor manual and yearly supplements.
