CITY OF ST. JOSEPH, MINNESOTA
MINUTES OF SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 1975
The City Council of the City of St. Joseph met in special session on Monday,
November 24, 1975 at 7 p.m. with the following members present: Mayor Harry J.
Knevel; Councilmen, Herman Schneider, Bud Reber, Hugo Weyrens, Steve Dehler;
Clerk Bob Johnson. Also present were: John Kierzek, Dick Taufen, Bill Lorentz,
Jeff Young, Ray Bechtold, Paul Ewald.
Purpose of meeting to complete employee negotiations for 1976 - 1977. Further
study of on call and comp time to be made by council.
A motion was made by Hugo Weyrens seconded by Bud Reber to approve the following
funeral leave schedule: 3 days for immediate family parents, spouse, children,
brothers and sisters, 1 day for father and mother in law - Motion carried.
Additional study to be made on holidays worked relating to holiday pay.
Motion made by Hugo Weyrens seconded by Bud Reber to table further discussion.
Snow removal problems were examined - snow parking problems examined - fùrther
enforcement study to be made. Ford plow unit to have wing mounted.
A motion was made by Bud Reber seconded by Herman Schneider to approve Hub
Klein Sidewalk No. 1975-A special assessment roll and certification to county
auditor. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Steve Dehler seconded by Bud Reber to approve the following
tax levy for 1976:
General Revenue ------ 31,107.00
Street Maintenance --- 2,500.00
Lights --------------- 6,700.00
Recreation ----------- 2,100.00
Fire Relief ---------- 600.00
43,007.00
Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Herman Schneider seconded by Hugo Weyrens to approve the
following salary schedule for 1976 - 77. Monthly adjustments: John Kierzek -
$28.17, Dick Taufen - $60.00, Bill Lorentz - $34.00. The above employees and
part-time employee Ida Mae Johnson were granted a ¡¡% increase for 1976, effective
March 1, 1976. The following we~granted a 4 % increase for 1977, effective
March 1, 1977: Kierzek, T auf en , Lorentz, Ida Mae Johnson and Bob Johnson.
Ceta employees: Ray Bechtold 12% increase effective Dec. 1, 1975. Jeff
Young, $75.00 monthly increase effective Dec. 1, 1975. Paul Ewald received a
$75.00 per month increase on 9/1/75. Permanent part-time employees vacation and
sick leave approved on a pro-rata basis. Motion carried unanimously.
$10. per month clothing allowance for Patrolmen approved in above motion - 14/1/75.
