Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council for thE> City I
of St. Joseph met in special session on Tuesday, March 19, 1996 at !

created Police Sergeant position and other job position issues with!

Mayor Reber called the meeting to order at 4:00 P.M. with Councilo~s
Rieke, Loso and Hiemenz present and introduced Kathleen Murphy. !

Kathleen Murphy discussed information on the Minnesota Pay Equity Law
including job evaluation and job match. She further discussed the !job
match system used by the City of St. Joseph.
The Police Sergeant position was compared to the Sergeant position land
Police Officer position. Rieke made a motion to establish the points
for the Sergeant positron at 40% Sergeant and 50% Police Officer, I
establishing the position at 294 points; seconded by Loso. '
Ayes: Reber, Rieke, Loso, Hiemenz.
Hayes: Hone. Ehlert arrived during the motiori and
abstained. Motion carried.
Rieke recommended setting a schedule every two years in
years, for periodic review of all the job positions and
assigned..

The Council discussed with Kathleen Murphy various job positions iri
relation to the points assigned them. After considerable discussion
the Council agreed to meet with Kathleen Murphy on March 25 at 8:0Ø
P.M. in City Hall to review all the job positions in relation to points
assigned..

The meeting was adjourned at 5:02 with a motion by LOBo; seconded
Rieke.
Ayes: Reber, Rieke, Loso, Hiemenz, Ehlert.
Hayes: None. Motion carried.
