Pursuant to due notice and call thereof the City Council for the City of St. Joseph met in special
session on Tuesday, April 22, 1997 at 8:30 p.m, I
:MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Kenneth J. Hiemenz, Councilors Bob Loso, Cory Ehlert, Mary I
Niedenfuer, and Ken Twit. Clerk!Administrator Rachel Stapleton,
OTHERS PRESENT: City Attorney John Scherer, Terry Herberg, JeffY òung, Jean Gustin,
Dean Cichy, Steve Fischer.
Mayor Hiemenz called the meeting to order as a special meeting for police negotiation at 8:45
p.m.
City Attorney John Scherer reviewed the Police Officers proposed contract and the parts that
have not yet been agreed. He also reviewed the position of the City and the position of the Police
OfficiiS Labor RepreselltativèS.
The City Council and Law Enforcement Labor Services representative as the exclusive
representative of the Officers of the St. Joseph Police Department both caucused separately
several times to consider negotiation,
Positions generally agreed on were:

7.2 _ Chief of Police will be consulted before a change in the nonna! work day to eight hours by a
4/5ths vote of the Council. I

8.1 All work in excess of the nonnal scheduled shift shall be paid at overtime rates.
9.l All holidays shall remain the same.
10.1 After 21 years of service an additional eight hours of vacation will be accrued per year
(with a maximum of 200 hours), except for Jeff Young who shall continue to receive an
additional day per year to a maximum of200 hours.
The meeting was closed and adjourned at 1l :40 p.m, with a motion by Twit; seconded by Loso.
