Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council for the CitY of St. Joseph met on Monday November 20th, 2000 at 7:00 a.m.Jn the St. Joseph City Hall. Members Present: Mayor Kenneth Hiemenz, Ken Twit, Mary Niedenfuer, Bob Loso, Clerk- Administrator Cari Lindberg. Members absent: Cory Ehlert. 2. City Administrator Resignation - Mayor Ken Hiemenz stated that this special meeting was called to discuss the resignation of the City Administrator. Hiemenz stated that he would like to go on record as saying that they asked for reconsideration of her decision, but that was denied. Loso made a motion to accept the City Administrator's resignation under protest, seconded by Twit. The motion passed unanimously. Lindberg thanked the Council for being so understanding. She reiterated that this had nothing to do with the election results. This opportunity presented itself and they made her an offer she couldn't pass up. Lindberg stated that she has learned a great deal in her year and a half in St. Joseph and that it would be hard to leave. The commute is just too difficult. I Niedenfuer stated that she was sorry to see her leave. Lindberg stated that she would like to recommend that Judy Weyrens be appointed as the Administrator. Weyrens is interested in the job and would be the best frt for the job. Lindberg explained that Weyrens has the connections to the communitY that are so important in a city líke St. Joseph. She has all of the financial savvy and experience to make her a sure success in the position. Lindberg stated that she believes Weyrens has the managerial capability as well. A lot has changed over the past year and Weyrens is comfortable with her abilitY to manage staff. Undberg added that the new facility will also help in that transition. The beauty of hiring Weyrens as the Administrator is that there would essentially be no transition. People already see her as the Administrator. Lindberg said that even after a year and five months, people still go to Weyrens for answers first. She is the obvious choice forthe position and the Council would be extremely remiss in not giving her the chance to prove that she can be a fabulous Administrator. Loso stated that ifthe Council appoints Weyrens as the Administrator; there should be some sort of a probationary period, perhaps a year. He stated that his only concern would be her ability to manage these people that have become her friends overthe years. B\!illg tile Administrator often means being the bad guy at times. LoSQ ~¡¡\,~ ~h~t he would like. to see Weyrens come and speak before the Council on her own behalf. Thè rest of the Council agreed. They set a special meeting for Monday, November 27th at 7:30. Schmidt st~¡ëd that she would askWeyrens to attend. 3. Adjourn - Niedenfuer made a motion to adjourn at 7:55, seconded by Twit The motion passed unanimously. I Respectfully Submitted, ,/1 ::.
