AGENDA ITEM: Grant Acceptance—Requested Action:Accept grant funding
in the amount of$ 1,100 from the DNR to purchase two pagers,two torches and five lengths of hose.

BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: The Fire Board had previously authorized the Fire
Chief to seek funding through the DNR Rural Fire Department Matching Grant Program for needed equipment.
The Department received a funding letter in the amount of$ 1,100 for which the Fire Board is recommending
acceptance.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Annually the DNR solicits proposals for funding through the DNR Rural Fire
Matching Grant Program. The maximum funding any department can receive is$2,500 and is a matching grant.
The Fire Department applied for funding in the amount of$ 1,200 for the purchase of two pagers($ 1,200),two
dip torches(201.09 each); and five lengths of 2%fire hose at$ 154.11 each). Since it is a matching grant,the total
purchase would be$2,400. The Fire Chief clarified that the equipment would have been purchased regardless of
the funding as it was needed equipment;therefore,the funding provides relief to the budget.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: $ 1,100 relief in the fire expenditure budget
