HomeMy WebLinkAbout[04k] Grant Application - Safety Equipment Council Agenda Item 4k MEETING DATE: August 31, 2015 AGENDA ITEM: Grant Application—Requested Action: Approve grant submittal for personnel safety equipment SUBMITTED BY: Safety Committee BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: N/A PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The St.Joseph Police and Public Works departments requested replacement of OSHA compliant eye and ear protection to meet current safety requirements. The current equipment is outdated. The Safety Committee explored funding options. The League of MN Cities Insurance Trust has representatives in their Loss Control office that work with cities to submit grants to OSHA. OSHA provides a 50/50 Safety Hazard Abatement Grant to assist jurisdictions update equipment that provides personal safety. Staff is requesting a grant submittal for up to$800 with an $800 match from the City's safety budget. BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: $ 800 City Safety Budget $ 800 Grant ATTACHMENTS: Request for Council Action—Safety Equipment Grant REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Consider approving the submittal of a safety hazard abatement grant to OSHA for eye and ear protective equipment.
