AGENDA ITEM: Pay for Calls and Drills
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In 1996 each fire fighter was paid $8.00 per hour for paged out calls and
$5.00 per hour for drill time. In 1997, the rate was changed to$10.00 per hour for paged out calls and
$5.00 per hour for drill time. In 2004, the rate was changed to$10.00 per hour for paged out calls and
$10.00 per hour for drill time,which is where we are still at today. I have talked with a few other
departments to see where they are at(see attachment). I would like to see a $2.00 raise for both the
Call and Drill time. A few of the other cities have decided to or are looking at doing a increase in pay
each time the other departments in their city get their increase. I'm not sure if this is something the
board would like to look at. If not, I believe the board may want to look at setting out a schedule to at
least address this every so many years (2—5 ?)
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: Budget would increase roughly$6,000.00 per year depending on Call
and Drill numbers.

REQUESTED ACTION: Look at approving a $2.00 per hour pay raise.
