AGENDA ITEM: Fire Chief's Report
• The two new members Justin Hunt and Dan Voigt have both taken and passed their FF1 &
Hazmat class and are now able to go into burning buildings. They are currently taking the FF2
class and will be doing the EMR class shortly after that. Dan Voigt has also been able to get
his Class B Lic/Tanker endorsement. Andrew Kremer has gotten his Class B Lic/Tanker
endorsement and has now completed all his minimum requirements.
• We did receive the DNR Grant for 2015. This is a 50/50 grant that we wrote for 2 new drip
torches, 2 new pagers, 1 section of LDH for our Tanker, and 4 sections of 2%"fire house for
Engine#1.
• 2015 year ended with 343 paged out fire/ems calls which again is the highest number of calls
we have had in one year.
• The Officers positions for the year were approved by the city. They are Justin Honer for
Assistant Chief for a 2 year term, Ken Jacobson and Dan Muyres for Captains for a 2 year
term, and Keith Louwagie for Captain for a 1 year term.
• The department did meet with a representative from PERA about their retirement funds and
how PERA works. The department seemed to have a lot of questions and concerns about
doing this. This can be done any time but only starts at the beginning of each year. As a
department,we were not ready to do this and our relief president has reached out to a few
departments that are on PERA to meet with them to answer more questions about it.
