. Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Economic Development Authority met in
special session on Thursday, June 19, 1997 at 8:00 a.m. in the St. Joseph City Hall.
Members Present: Chair Ken Hiemenz. Board Members Michael Deutz, Bruce Gohman
(arriving at 8:15 p.m.), Ken Twit, Ross Rieke. EDA Director Chad Carlson. Recording
Secretary Judy Weyrens.
The purpose of the special meeting was to review a revised job description for the
position of Economic Development Director.
Carlson presented his proposed revisions to the job description. Carlson's revisions
included eliminating relating to planning issues. He stated that Planning could be a
full time position in itself. Therefore, he included a provision where the Economic
Development Director would serve as a resource to the Planning Commission.
Board Members discussed the following aspects of the job description:
· Budgetary responsibilities
e Participation with the Greater St. Joseph Area Committee
· Decision making ability
· Coordination of development activities
· Expense reimbursement policy

Carlson will revise the job description for consideration at the July 9, 1997 meeting.
Other Matters:
Time Sheet Approval: Deutz made a motion authorizing the Chair of the EDA
to verify and sign the EDA Director's time sheet. In the case ofms absence the Vice
Chair will assume the responsibility. The motion was seconded by Rieke and passed
unanimously.
Industrial Park: Hiemenz reported that a special meeting will need to be
scheduled in July to meet with Leo Buettner and Joeª-~~ndorf to discuss the
realignment of County Road 133. The Board agreed to schedule the meeting on July 24
with an alternate date of July 23,1997. Rieke discussed the need to include a
representative of the Planning Commission at the July 24th meeting.
Adjourn: Deutz made a motion to adjourn at 10:00 a.m.; seconded by Rieke. The
motion passes unanimously.
