HomeMy WebLinkAbout[04c] Capital Purchase - Plotter \[04c\] Council Agenda Item MEETING DATE: March 22, 2016 AGENDA ITEM: Requested Action Capital Purchase – : Authorize the purchase of an HP 2530 Wide format printer/scanner, trading the existing HP Plotter for a total cost of $ 8,972.35 SUBMITTED BY: Administration BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In 2006 the City purchased a plotter for $ 3,379 and have used to print large scale maps. The current plotter only prints. When we started looking at what we have to scan to get rid of un-necessary paper and not move, we looked at options. HP is offering a rebate for trading any wide format printer. The City will receive a rebate of $ 2,000 for our 10 year old machine and we can purchase a new plotter that will scan and copy for $ 8,972.35. Right now when we need to have copies reproduced we go to Kinko’s in St. Cloud and pay for the copies which is cost prohibitive and we cannot scan. We do require now all prints to be submitted in 11 x 17 as well, so we don’t have as many; however, the building inspector than has to put all the comments on both large and small duplicating the work. We do use the plotter and there are times when we need a copy and instead of paying to copy we try and print in pieces. While we could lease the machine and then own at the end, however, funding is available through capital and we would save considerable interest costs.
