HomeMy WebLinkAbout[03] Minutes St Joseph Park Board Minutes March 28,2016 6.00 p.m. St Joseph City Hall Members Present: John Anderson (Chairman),Andrew Deuhs, Sharon Rennie,Troy Goracke,Jodi Keehr, Matt Killam (Councilor Liason),Terry Thene (Staff Liason) Call to Order: 6:00 p.m. Approval of Agenda: Approved Approval of Minutes: Approved Treasurer's Report: Lori would like these voted on each month. Liaison Reports: Terry Thene: Reported that parks are in good condition. Removed the grills, electric posts and fire rings from the old campground in Millstream Park. Matt Killam: New Government Building was passed by the City Council. There will be a new Police Department and garage at the old Kennedy School site. The city has hired a new Community Activity Advisor. A new retirement community is being built in St Joseph. Old Business: A. Klinefelter Natural Flora presentation Burning should happen the first week of April B. Work on Millstream Priorities 1. Dog Park: The master plan includes one in East Park. The idea of having a dog park in the old Millstream campsite was discussed. However, if plans were to move forward we would need a more formal layout including pricing. Terry says the Park Board should know by the next meeting if the East Park should happen. This could also be a potential site for a future dog park. A map of East Park was reviewed by the Park Board. 2. Park Shelter: Matt suggest waiting a month or two before presenting the new park shelter to the Lions as they are very busy right now. It was also suggested that reconstruction of the road be presented at the same time. 3. Sand Volleyball: Terry gave some dollar amounts: $3,000 for courts, the city has 2 lighting poles already but the fixtures could potentially run in the$15,000 range. Tasha (EI Paso) addressed the Park Board and stated that the old Racquetball Club is under new ownership and is getting ready to open up their own sand volleyball. 4. Field Sports—Soccer, Rugby: No discussion took place C. Other Old Business: John suggested getting a date to present building plan and road reconstruction for Millstream Park to the City Council. New Business: A. Sauk River Property East West Park: Tabled until next meeting B. Enhancements to Northland Footgolf: Matt suggested a gnome theme for the signage. He has a local artist in mind that would do this. A motion was brought forward to spend $500 from the General Fund to complete this. The Park Board voted on this and it passed unanimously. C. Disposition of skateboard equipment: A motion was brought forward to sell the surplus skateboard equipment. The Park Board voted on this and it passed unanimously. D. Other New Business: Matt suggested getting a new Park Board pamphlet together along with updated photos. Adiournment
