St Joseph Park Board Minutes

Millstream Park Shelter
Members Present:John Anderson(Chairman),Marguerite Fogarty(Secretary),Andrew Deuhs,
Sharon Rennie,Troy Goracke,Matt Killam(Councilor Liaison),Terry Thene(Staff Liaison),

Call to Order: 6:00 p.m.

Matt shared information about the Country Manor Project. It will be a 4 phase project.
The new Government Building will be completed in February.
Terrv Thene•
The Millstream Shelter needed a great deal of clean-up after winter.
Centennial Park is ready and being used,however the people using that park are not cleaning up
after themselves.
Foot Golf is in.
The City acquired the Park land of approximately 90 acres along the Sauk River.The farmer will
continue farming the land this year.Money will go directly to that park.Terry has been speaking
with SEH regarding suzveying of that location.Terry would like to see an entrance put in this
year as well as access for cances.
Old Business:
A. Klinefelter naturaI Flora Preservation
The"burn"has not happened yet.
B. Millsteam Priorities
1. Dog Park:The Board walked the potential area for a Dog Park.One option could be
along the creek.The Board proposed re-visiting ideas for a location after having a
clearer plan for the new shelter.
2. Park 5helter:The next step is to pay$2,000 for mechanical,electrical bids.Andrew
made a motion to request$2,000 from City Council to provide specifications for
mechanicaUelectrical for the new shelter.
3. Matt recommended having a Power Point presentation includi�g photos of the current
building,including maintenance costs for making it clean and usable.

New Business:
A. Sauk River Pronertv-"EasUWest Park"
See Terry's notes. The Board decided to focus on Millstream Park 6efore making any
plans for this location.
B. Adoat a Tree
Matt suggested we look at the Redwood Falls website.Individuals can"sponsor a tree"
with a gift of$150-$300.Matt said this could be a revenue source and could be placed on
the City website.
C. Recognition of Park Benefa tors
Matt suggested having an al award for individuals or clubs who consistently donate
to our parks. Terry suggested aving a dinner,inviting these people/clubs.John suggested
a sub-committee look at what other cities have done,the cost of awards and the
organizing of this event.
D. Other New Business
1. Field S orts: Soccer R b
The Board discussed contacti g CSB for the use of their new fields,rather than spending
money on our existing fields.
2. Northland Gold Undate
After learning that$200 is still needed to complete the project,Jodi Keehr(Ag Star)
donated the necessary money.Graphics for signs along the holes are still in process.
E. Other Old Business
1. Park Description Flver
Matt together a flyer with descriptions of each Park. (Also for website)Each Board
Member is going to take pictures of a particular Park for this purpose.Ideally,we
would like to have a portfolio of all seasons in the parks, in order to choose the best.
John is checking into the legality of having individuals in the pictures.
