HomeMy WebLinkAbout[09] Park Board 11 Council Agenda Item 9 MEETING DATE: June 20, 2106 AGENDA ITEM: Park Board Report—Funding Request SUBMITTED BY: Park Board—John Anderson/Matt Killam BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: The Park Board received Sales Tax Funding to prepare the drawings for a new shelter at Millstream Park. The Plans are nearly complete and need to have mechanical drawings added. The Park Board has also been working on master planning Millstream park looking at future uses and opportunities. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The Council approved the use of S 7,500 for the architectural drawings for a new facility at Millstream. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Attached to the packet is information that Matt Killam forwarded for the meeting. I have also attached the shelter drawings. Every year there is up to i" ice buildup on the • ^• _�+ �. �; interior floor,this needs to be thawed in January for the Frisbee golf ice bowl which donates to the food shelf. In theFall staff blocks up items so they do not freeze to the floor. Heavy rain also presents a water issue on the inside • of the building. a• � .L Pavers are tipped toward the building which does not allow waterto drain properly The fire place does not vent properly and smokes out the building creating poor air quality oil- 4 �T Current Issues at the park Easy access for rodents into the building, cleaning in the spring also includes cleaning up after the critters ut The exterior of the building is failing, both wood and block. The roll up doors no longer seal to the concrete, this is from many years of use. Restrooms are not handicap accessible. It takes 1/2 day to blow out the water lines to prevent damage in the Fall. Steps that have been completed so far ❑ Park board has started to review Millstream Park. ❑ Park shelter replacement has been determined to be a huge need. ❑ Park Board and City Council have approved initial Architectural Renderings. ❑ Renderings were completed through Out Source Architecture. ❑ Park Board approved renderings and requested engineer blueprints to be completed. ❑ Saint Joseph Lions Club have expressed interest in the project. ❑ City Council has the option to approve engineer blueprints to be completed.
