HomeMy WebLinkAbout[07a] Park Board - Budget Requests Park Budget Requests Matt Killam, John Anderson and Mary Munden Park Board The Park Board has spent several months evaluating Millstream Park Reviewed needs and wants from the community Determined a two phase process to implement to the park Identified other park project needs and goals Phase 1 Items to be completed in 2017 Park Shelter Dog Park Child Playground Millstream Park Shelter Current issues with the shelter Steps that have been completed so far Highlights of the proposed facility What direction is needed for the future t F: Issues at the _ w _ shelter It requires 32 hours of spring cleaning to remove the 't ' 1� mold build up on the ceilings in the spring. 4 ' Every year there is up to 1" ice buildup on the interior floor, this needs to be thawed in January for the Frisbee f _ golf ice bowl which donates to the food shelf. In the Fall staff blocks up items so they do not freeze to the floor. Heavy rain also presents a water issue on the inside of the building. "� • Easy access for rodents into the building, _ cleaning in the spring also includes cleaning up after the critters The exterior of the building is failing, both wood and block. The roll up doors no longer seal to the concrete, this is from many years of use. Restrooms are not handicap accessible. It takes '/2 day to blow out the water lines to prevent damage in the Fall. s i tr' THAT HAVE BEEN COMPLETED SO FAR Park board has started to review Millstream Park. Park shelter replacement has been determined to be a huge need. Park Board and City Council have approved initial Architectural Renderings. Renderings were completed through Out Source Architecture. Park Board approved renderings and requested engineer blueprints to be completed. Saint Joseph Lions Club have expressed interest in the project. City Council has approved engineer blueprints. Estimated total of project is completed and awaiting council approval. ($20,000) Water fountain Dogs/Owners Concrete slabs Staff time ($ 10,000) Weekly cost to staff to mow and maintain (St Joseph group will help in this) Council request $30,000 Playground Equipment The City spent $30,000 for the Centennial Park play _ equipment in 2010. The $40,000 budget is realistic for a similar feature in today's costs, including labor to install Current equipment is not up to The Park Board would like something similar in Millstream Park code and was from 1970's Phase 2 Items to be completed in 2018 Performance Stage Parking lot changes Performance Stage The Park Board has reviewed options for a Performance Stage Abasic amphitheater could cost $ 150,000- $200,000. Local groups would help fundraise for this, which could help the design and fund special amenities The Park Board would request $150,000 to budget for this 2018 project. AVON Small Shelter, no seating and cost would be under $ 100,000.
