AGENDA ITEM: 2017 Fire Officers
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Annually the Fire Department accepts application for the coming
year for any officer positions that become open. For 2017, the following positions are open in 2017: Fire
Chief(two year term); two Captains (2 year term) one Captain(1 year term). The positions are currently
held by the following: Fire Chief—Jeff Taufen; Captain(2 year term)—Paul Phillipp and Dave Salzer;
Captain(1 year term)—Keith Louwagie.
Applications were received as follows:
Fire Chief Jeff Taufen
Captain Dave Salzer, Paul Phillipp, Keith Louwagie, Shirlie Brill
The Fire departments investigating committee met and discussed and recommended the Fire Board accept
the following officers: Jeff Taufen as the Fire Chief for a 2 year term, Dave Salzer and Paul Phillipp for
the 2 2-year Captains positions, and Keith Louwagie for the 1 year Captain position.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: No
ATTACHMENTS: No
REQUESTED ACTION: Accept the recommendation of the Investigating Committee and recommend
the Council appoint the same.
