HomeMy WebLinkAbout[04h] Gambling Report Council Agenda Item 4 \[h\] MEETING DATE: December 5, 2016 AGENDA ITEM: Gambling Report - 3rd Quarter Report SUBMITTED BY: Finance BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: None PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Gambling Premise permits were approved for the St. Joseph Lion’s, St. Joseph Jaycees and American Legion Post #328. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Per City Ordinance No. 62 each organization conducting lawful gambling within the City of St. Joseph is required to submit copies of their monthly state tax returns to City Hall on a quarterly and annual basis. Per review of the tax returns the organizations are sufficiently supporting the local community with their gambling proceeds. Examples of how the organizations are giving back to the community include the following items: Polar Plunge Kennedy Community School All Saints Academy Circus Tri-City School Grad Parties Local citizens – hardships Mark Zimmer Foundation Salvation Army Joe Boys Tri County Humane Society Big Brothers/Big Sisters ISD 742 Funeral Details GRRL Sartell Grad Party Boys/Girls State Catholic Charities Boys Scouts/Girls Scouts Brian Klinefelter Foundation Troop Care Packages Youth Basketball Community Easter Party St. Joseph Summer Recreation May 23rd 5k St. Joseph Lunch & Learn St. Joseph Saints Baseball Hanging Flower Baskets Legion Color Guard Uniforms Local Marching Bands Independent Lifestyles St. Joseph Dollars for Scholars Coborns Cancer Center St. Cloud VA Doctors Without Borders Resurrection Lutheran Church Fire Dept Infrared Camera Required St. Joseph Community Organization Net Profits Donation Donations % Donated American Legion Post 328 $50,396 $5,040 $15,188 30% St. Joseph Lion's $37,897 $3,790 $12,793 34% St. Joseph Jaycees $14,783 $1,478 $21,708 147% Notes: 1.
