Advisory Committee
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Approved Community Design Group(CDG)as the Consultant to
complete the City of St. Joseph's Comprehensive Plan.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: With the launching of the Comprehensive Plan update set to
begin, staff is recommending the establishment of an Advisory Committee to guide the planning process.
The Planning Commission will still play a significant role in preparing and approving the City's
Comprehensive Plan followed by approval of the City Council. Prior to adoption of the Comprehensive
Plan,the Planning Commission will hold at least one public hearing and make a recommendation to the
City Council for final approval. There will be a significant public engagement process and as such the
Advisory Committee will be another avenue to reach the public further as well as represent specific plan
components. The recommended makeup of the Advisory Committee is as follows:
City Staff(Administrator and Community Development Director)
Consultant Engineer
One Planning Commissioner, EDA and City Councilmember
One St.Joseph Township Board member
College of St. Benedict
Sister of the Order of St. Benedict
CentraCare or Stearns County Health(community health: food systems, active living, sustainability,etc.)
St.Joseph Chamber of Commerce(represents business community/economic development)
