BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: The Park Board reviewed the plans for
constructing a new facility at Millstream Park and are recommending that the Council move forward to the bidding
process to construct the new facility this year.
The Park Board is requesting to use Sales Tax to build the facility
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The Council has reviewed the plans,requesting additional information.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Below is a summary of the project:
An independent contractor reviewed the plans as drawn,he estimated the cost of the building to be$456,000. This
cost does not include civil work, limited landscaping budget,and utilities.
Project Costs: $472,000
Tables/Chairs $ 20,000
Outside Furniture $ 2,000
Demolition $ 4,000
Paving Driveway/parking $ 15,000

The City Engineer and Public Works Director met with Dean Wick(Architect)to discuss the outstanding items.
While the plans are complete,the bid documents have not been prepared. Dean Wick was not proposing to prepare
the bid documents or manage the bidding process and construction. This process would need to be completed by
another entity or company. The costs above total$518,000 and looking at the missing items the more realistic
number is closer to$600,000. However, in a good bidding environment,this could go down as well.
Staff has reached out to secure a cost for preparation of the bid documents and managing the project and will
hopefully have a number on Monday night. The City Engineer is also working on the costs for the civil portion of
the project.

REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: The Park Board is requesting authorization to utilize sales tax revenue and
bid the project for construction in spring.
