HomeMy WebLinkAbout[04f] Gambling Report - 3rd Quarter Report Council Agenda Item 4f MEETING DATE: November 20, 2017 AGENDA ITEM: Gambling Report - 3rd Quarter Report SUBMITTED BY: Finance BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: None PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Gambling Premise permits were approved for the St. Joseph Lion’s, St. Joseph Jaycees, Granite City Lumberjacks and American Legion Post #328. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Per City Ordinance No. 62 each organization conducting lawful gambling within the City of St. Joseph is required to submit copies of their monthly state tax returns to City Hall on a quarterly and annual basis. Per review of the tax returns the organizations are sufficiently supporting the local community with their gambling proceeds. Examples of how the organizations are giving back to the community include the following items: Kennedy Community School All Saints Academy Tri-City School Grad Parties Big Brothers/Big Sisters Sartell Grad Party Boys/Girls State Troop Care Packages St. Joseph Food Shelf St. Joseph Dog Park Oratorical Contest Memorial Day Celebration Building Repairs Dollars for Scholars St. Cloud VA Hospital Mark Zimmer Foundation Flags Hanging Flowers Funeral Services/Uniforms th Joe Town Table Vacation Bible School July 4 Celebration Granite City Lumberjacks City of Waite Park Boy Scouts Stearns County History Museum Catholic Charities Church of St. Joseph Required St. Joseph Community Organization Net Profits Donation Donations % Donated American Legion Post 328 $54,308 $5,431 $11,775 22% St. Joseph Lion's $29,859 $2,986 $1,000 3% St. Joseph Jaycees $3,485 $348 $6,100 175% 291% $8,658 $866 $25,174 Granite City Lumberjacks Notes: 1.
