BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Initiative Foundation awards about $1M in grants annually to Central Minnesota governments and non-profits for projects that support community, economic and early childhood development. The City of St. Joseph is a long-time partner of the Initiative Foundation. Many grants have been awarded to the local community. This year, the Initiative Foundation is awarding a $2,500 grant to the City of St. Joseph to engage residents in the design of the East Park canoe access. The canoe access will provide an active recreational activity for residents of all ages. Staff requests council’s approval to accept the $2,500 grant award to begin the design phase of East Park, including public input forums per the grant agreement.
