HomeMy WebLinkAbout[04f] Capital Equipment Purchase Council Agenda Item 4f MEETING DATE: March 19, 2018 AGENDA ITEM: Capital Equipment Purchase – Requested Action: Authorize the purchase of a stationary generator for the Baker Street Lift Station in the amount of $ 43,648.00 SUBMITTED BY: Public Works Director BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Annually the City Council reviews and accepts the Capital Improvement and Equipment Plan. Included with the 2018 (and previous years) was Proj ENG-1543, Baker Street Lift Station. The CIP has funds in the amount of $ 92,000.00 BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Staff worked with Design Electric on assembling the cost to purchase and install a 80 Kw generator at the Baker lift station. This station has seen an increase in flow in the last several years which has decreased the response time during power outages. This generator is needed to prevent sanitary sewer backups during power outages. The City has received a quote from Design Electric in the amount of $42,648.00. In addition to the generator cost, the City will have to contract with Total Control to connect the generator to the SCADA system. It is estimated the cost for connection is $ 1,000. The generator will take 8 weeks to receive after the placement of the order. BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: $ 43,648.00 REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Authorize the purchase of a 80K generator with connection to SCADA for the Baker Street Lift station in the amount of $ 43,648.00.
