HomeMy WebLinkAbout[04b] 4 Gas Monitors Fire Board Agenda Item 4 – B nd MEETING DATE: May 2, 2018 AGENDA ITEM: 4-Gas Monitors BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In the past, we have had 2 4-Gas Monitors on our trucks. 1 has stopped working and is unfixable to do its age and the company not making it any longer. We have looked at 2 different models to replace both of them. The department would like to purchase 4 new MSA Altair 4XR Multigas Bluetooth Detectors, 4 Charging Cradles, and 1 Galaxy GX2 Automated Test System. (A 4-Gas Monitor detects LEL, O2, CO, and H2S gases which at certain levels can be very dangerous for fire fighters or anyone else in the area. It is also Bluetooth so a firefighter inside can be monitored by an officer outside. The Cradles will hold the unit and charge them in the trucks. The Test System is needed to calibrate each unit on a monthly basis along with printing out a report to prove it was done). Our Relief Association has agreed to pay half of the $7211.00 or $3,605.50 BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: $3,605.50.
