AGENDA ITEM: Compensation – Requested Action: Increase the salary of the Police
Sergeant to step one of the Police Chief pay range while serving as interim chief.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The City Council appointed Sgt. Dwight Pfannenstein as Interim Chief.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Previously when an employee filed a vacancy for position while there
was a vacancy an interim wage was applied. Therefore, it is recommended to increase the wage of the Sergeant to
Step one of the Police Chief while serving in that capacity. Pfannenstein has been fulfilling all the responsibilities
of the department since April 19.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: $ 2.19 per hour
