HomeMy WebLinkAbout[07b] Governement Center HVAC Council Agenda Item 7(b) MEETING DATE: August 6, 2018 AGENDA ITEM: Administrator Reports – Government Center HVAC SUBMITTED BY: Public Works/Administration BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: BACKGROUND INFORMATION: City staff has been working with the contractors regarding the humidity issue in the building. The system that was installed is built according to plans. The administration side comes extremely humid to the point where papers are damp and the sorting machine does not work. We are also concerned that if we do not do anything it could impact long term the building itself. The City designed the building for future capacity which would include additional staff. The additional staff would create additional heat therefore the cooling unit would run longer taking the humidity out of the air. In talking to different contractors and the design engineer the only way to resolve the matter is to install additional heat to the building to get the air conditioning unit to run. BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: $ 15,520.00. ATTACHMENTS: Precise Quote REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Approve the expenditure of $ 15,500 to resolve the humidity in the government center.
