BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE/COUNCIL RECOMMENDATION: Council accepted the
proposed Master Park Plan for East Park and requested public open house before final approval.
PREVIOUS PARK BOARD ACTION: The Park Board recommended acceptance of the Master Park
Plan for East Park. Naming the park discussion occurred,but not determined.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Park Board hired S.E.H.to develop the Master Park Plan for
East Park. The plan included public input participation as agreed upon with the $2,500 Initiative
Foundation grant. Over the past year, Bob Kost and his team helped the Park Board develop the Master
Plan for a natural park along the Sauk River in the south side of the City. Based on the plan development,
park may include a non-motorized ADA boat launch,fishing piers,bird watching,trails,prairie
restoration and reforestation(to name a few amenities). The final proposed plan will be presented to the
public before its final approval in October.
Also,the park naming should be determined at this meeting. Names suggested from S.E.H. and members
include the following:
Blazing Star Park Prairie Bend Park L'Etoile du Nord Park
Meadowbrook Park Riverview Park Riverbend Park
Prairie Run Park Sauk Bend Park Streamwood Park
Foxglove Park Morningside Park Clinton Park
Sunrise Park

REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Allow public comment on the proposed Master Park plan and
select a name for the park.
